This the second meeting of the year between the teams. The Pens defeated the Caps in a shootout, 4-3, after raising their Stanley Cup championship banner in their regular-season opener on Oct. 13 at PPG Paints Arena … Sidney Crosby did not play in that game as he was sidelined with a concussion. He has points in 8 of his 9 appearances this year, while his 10 goals are tied for the lead in the Eastern Conference and tied for second in the NHL despite missing the 1st 6 contests of the season … The Caps are playing the Pens in the second of back-to-back contests. The Blue Jackets beat them in overtime, 2-1, at Nationwide Arena on Tuesday. … Head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed that Matt Murray will start in goal for Pittsburgh. He's won all 4 of his starts this year, which leads all rookie goalies.
