"The Pittsburgh Penguins today officially unveiled a Mario Lemieux youth hockey display case at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry.
The unique case is a tribute to Mario's amateur career while growing up in Montreal - from his days with the neighborhood Ville Emard Hurricanes to his record-breaking years with the Laval Voisins of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
"Hockey fans know all about Mario's tremendous NHL accomplishments," said David Morehouse, president and CEO of the Penguins, "but, given the focus on youth hockey at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, we thought it would be great for kids and parents to see these tribute items from his youth hockey career."

Mario and his family provided many of the items for the case - including an early pair of skates; his jersey, sweater and team jacket from Ville Emard; a puck and stick from his 50-goal season in midget AAA hockey; and his Team Canada jersey and a signed team stick from the 1983 World Junior Championships.
In addition, there are photos of Mario and two young teammates from his Ville Emard neighborhood who also went on to play in the NHL (and with the Penguins) - Marc Bergevin and J.J. Daigneault."
