A lot of posts we share here are by artists or bands that are unsigned and are in the stages of getting their music heard. So when we got wind of and Unsigned competition, we thought it would be a good idea to share this with the readers. Many of you while avid music fans, are also creating your own. This contest is designed for solo artists, bands, and singers who are not signed to a major label, the goal is to find an outstanding, talented performing artist: a band, singer, or solo artist. The Grand Prize Winner will be awarded $10,000 in cash (plus additional prizes) and one-on-one mentoring by an elite group of record company executives. Now that is a pretty sweet deal. First and Second Place winners in each of ten categories of contemporary music will also be chosen. Original tunes and even cover songs are accepted, which is cool. The winners are then going to be announced in August, so there is time to send your best material.
So who is exactly judging the music? Love; Jason Gray; Rapsody; Alt-J; The Mountain Goats; Anthony DeCurtis (Contributing Editor, Rolling Stone); Josh Jackson (Co-Founder and Editor-In-Chief, Paste Magazine); Chris Richards (Pop Music Critic, The Washington Post); and more to be announced.
