I have reservations about this post. 2013 hasn't been a year that I want to celebrate. I've done a lot of reading in the bloggersphere lately, and it seems to be the trend to have had a great year; something I failed rather miserably at. 2013 was the worst years of my life. I was hit by a car while crossing the street. I in true Amber form, tried to come back from it way too early - to dust the gravel and tar off my skin and continue on with life as usual. Now I know that there is no more "normal". It's difficult for me to look at photos of myself before the accident: the woman in them no longer exists. The woman in those photos lived a completely different life, and can no longer relate to me. The terrifying thing is I'm starting to believe that no one can. This year I watched a lifelong dream literally dematerialize before my eyes due to the accident. My grandfather passed away just before the holidays. I had objects thrown at me during an argument; and just days into the new year I've been diagnosed with full ptsd. I thought it couldn't get worse after the accident but it has: having "full" ptsd means that I have all the symptoms; which means I am often angry and feel completely isolated and afraid. Due to my injuries from the accident, I've been put on mandatory work leave which means I've got nothing but time to be inside my head.
2013 had some highlights: I was promoted to store/boutique manager, and later given the task joy of buying for the store. Buying for the boutique was a dream realized. I got to work and model with the all natural skin company Ah Shayh; I'm on all their post cards! My family - a part that I never knew, found me on Facebook. I felt (well still feel) as though I had been given the prequel to my very own life. I became a blog and fashion mentor to a young girl, Sarah...and just 1 month and 8 days before my accident, I changed my blog from Amber's Mouthwash to A Mused. (Including my Facebook page! They said it couldn't be done.)
Here's to 2014.
