Visa Europe, the payment company, reported that online shoppers spent the most on Monday, 29 November in 2010.
They also reported that shoppers spent £265 million on Monday alone. Most of the transactions took place during the lunch break and in the evening when people came back from work.
In a different research report, Visa Europe predicted that almost three-quarters of consumers planning to buy Christmas presents online. It is almost 33% higher than last year.
Retail analysts forecasted that December 18 will be the busiest day for the traditional high street shops. Around 10 million consumers will be spending a total of £1.1 billion on this Christmas period.
