Opening Day is less than a week away!
I’m not sure if you know how cool it feels for me to be able to say that. I love it. So much.
And because the season is coming (look into the distance, you can see it) it’s time to make some predictions that may or may not come true during the 162 game regular season.
1) Bryce Harper will get food poisoning from Chipotle and his Unlimited, Forever, All-You-Can-Eat Card.
2) Vernon Wells will hit 6 home runs in April for the Yankees but soon find himself on the bench as the next Andruw Jones.
3) Blue Jays manager, John Gibbons will get in some sort of fight with a player in June, but it’ll all be okay and I don’t think anyone will get a black eye.
4) The Pirates will finish the season under .500 again. Sorry Pittsburgh.
5) The Washington Nationals starting pitchers will strike out more than 1000 hitters.
6) The Boston Red Sox will have a mediocre season that will be portrayed in the media as a terrible season and when they finish 4th in the AL East things will blow up in Beantown.
7) 2012 AL Triple Crown Winner, Miguel Cabrera, will not lead the American League in Home Runs, RBI or Batting Average in 2013.
8) 5 Blue Jays will make the All-Star team. Potential players: Jose Bautista, Jose Reyes, RA Dickey, Brendan Morrow, Edwin Encarncion, Brett Lawrie, Melky Cabrera, JP Arencibia.
9) The Houston Astros will lose 105 games in their first season in the AL West.
10) Giancarlo Stanton will be hot and cold in Miami this season in the middle of a terrible team and at some point will stop talking to the media and be fined by MLB.
11) Stanton will also be traded (maybe by demand) and it will be ugly and everyone will sympathize with him because we all know what’s going on in Miami.
12) 3-5 major league players will be busted for PED use.
13) Someone will have a 3 home run game in the first week of the season.
14) The Chicago Cubs will… well, not win the World Series.
15) Upton, Upton and Heyward will struggle to live up to expectations in Atlanta – but will lead the Braves to a Wild Card playoff spot.
16) Justin Verlander will have a stretch of 10 starts in a row without a loss at some point during the season.
17) The American League will win the All-Star Game at Citi Field in New York and secure home field advantage in the World Series.
18) I will attend no fewer than 12 Toronto Blue Jays games at Rogers Centre.
19) Wonder Woman, while available on the Free Agent wire, will not be picked up to help a team making a push for the playoffs.
20) The 10 MLB playoff teams will be:
AL: Los Angeles, Texas, Minnesota, Toronto, New York
NL: Washington, Atlanta, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Milwaukee
There we go kids – we’ll check back in later in the season to see how some of these predictions are panning out.
Until then, get ready for the 1st pitch.
Have a great season!
