Not only is the Democratic Party fractured by bitter divisions between Bernie and Hillary, and between their respective supporters, startling numbers of Democrats are bolting.
Last weekend, ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos reported that 15% of Obama voters plan on voting for Donald Trump!
Meanwhile, NBC News’ Chuck Todd reported that although the majority of Bernie supporters say they will vote for Hillary in November, 17% however say they plan to vote for Trump.
In contrast, after earlier threats of assassinating Trump, the wounds from the GOP primaries seem to be healing as the Republican Party unifies around their presumptive nominee:
- Paul Ryan will endorse Trump and step down as RNC chair
- Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who had been staunchly anti-Trump in the primaries, is now working behind the scenes to get the rest of the conservative wing to back Trump.
- Key moderate Philadelphia suburbs in Pennsylvania have taken a liking to Trump.
- The National Rifle Association endorsed Trump at their annual meeting last weekend.
