When you dine out, do you say grace?
I do! Even though — correction: especially because — I live in a bastion of the Left, aka the Belly of the Beast. LOL
Benjamin Fearnow reports for CBS Charlotte, Aug. 1, 2014, that a restaurant in Winston-Salem, NC, Mary’s Gourmet Diner, rewards public prayers by taking 15% off the bill of any diner who pray in public over his/her meal.
This became news when Jordan Smith dined there and took a photo of her receipt which was shared on the Facebook page of a Christian radio station in Orlando, FL.
The photo quickly received thousands of shares, which prompted the restaurant to confirm on its own Facebook page: “Yes, if we see you praying, you get 15% off your bill.”Smith told HLN Television that she and three other people at her table “talked about how wonderful that is and what a cool thing it is that they do [that] as business owners.” She said her group at the diner simply “prayed over our meal and the waitress came over at the end of the meal and said, ‘Just so you know, we gave you a 15% discount for praying.’”
Smith said she’d never seen or heard of such a “Praying in Public” discount before. She was surprised by the thousands of shares and likes on Facebook, “I just honestly posted it to my Facebook page and it’s been really fun to see where it’s gone from there.”
Mary’s Gourmet Diner is grateful for the publicity and posted “Thanks!! We could use some blessings!!!!!!!” on their Facebook page.
