Sankranti isn’t complete without kites, and we have a bunch of fun kite theme recipes that are perfect for this festival! Choose from cookies, sandwiches, fruit plates and more!

As soon as the New Year celebrations die down, Indians start preparing for the next one – Makar Sankranti! This is a festival based on the solar calendar and celebrates the sun. Basically, it marks the transition from the cold winter into warmer weather. Apparently, the reason for kite flying being so popular during this time is so that people are encouraged to step outside and get some fresh air and sunshine after being cooped up indoors all winter. But of course, no one thinks of that – we’re just concerned with all the fun we’re having!

Did you know that Makar Sankranti coincides with International Kite Day? That’s amazing! We always encourage the kids (and adults) to go kite flying – this gadget generation needs to look up once in a while than always down at their phones! Like all Indian festivals, Sankranti isn’t just about kites – it’s also about yummy food!

That’s why we ‘re thinking of doing something different this year. Let’s move away from the laddus, shall we? Why not celebrate kites and food together, by fusing the two? Yes, we’re talking about kite food! Check out these kite theme recipes that are perfect for Sankranti!
