When coming up with today’s Quopic, a great idea hit me! You know how Sookie always checks her “Word of the Day” calendar in the books and tries to use it in a sentence? Well, I have an app on my iPhone called, ‘Vocabology’, which sends me a word of the day from every dictionary, including ones in different languages. After I read today’s Word of the Day from the Urban Dictionary, I got inspired to use it in today’s Quopic.
Urban Dictionary’s word of the day is: cringeworthy
I know that there’s been many scenes on True Blood between Eric and Sookie which felt cringeworthy, just because it doesn’t ring true to how Eric and Sookie’s relationship is like in the books. One such scene is today’s Quopic!
Check out the Quopic of the Day for October 14th below!
Eric: Look at me. Can’t you see him in my eyes?
Sookie: Yes.
Eric: So, what’s the problem?
Sookie: Bill. When you were about to kill him, I just couldn’t bear the thought of a world without him in it.
~True Blood Season 4, Episode 10
Sookie’s response is definitely cringeworthy. WTF? After everything Bill has done to Sookie, I can’t believe that she would be stupid enough to care about him still. Not at this point of the series and not this soon after finding out about his betrayal. That sends a terrible message to women in general. That it’s okay to lie and betray people and your lover will continue to love and forgive you anyways.
Eric regained his memories. He remembered their time together and even admitted that he loved her. While Sookie does admit she loves Eric in this scene too…this cringeworthy moment right before she admits it, makes it seem hallow (no pun intended) and disappointing to many of us.
