101 Books Turns 4!

By Robert Bruce @robertbruce76

4 years. 918 posts. 20,000 comments. 32,000 subscribers. More than 1.2 million page views.

When I dreamed up this hair-brained idea back on a whim back in August 2010, I never dreamed 101 Books would become what it is today.

I figured it would take 4 to 5 years to finish all 101 novels—now it’s looking like it will take a little longer than that—but I really had no vision for this, and I surely didn’t expect all the numbers I listed above.

I’ve mentioned it before, but all I really wanted to do was just review the books. Essentially, I figured this blog would just have 101 posts, all reviews, with maybe an extra post here and there.

But I started seeing the opportunity to talk more about the novels, and that coupled with my mild dislike of writing book reviews, was a catalyst for 101 Books turning into 5-post-a-week blog.

So we’re here today and the blog is 4 years old, just a few months younger than my oldest son, and I’m thinking I’ve got another couple of years left until I finished off these final 28 books. It’s kind of crazy.

I’d like to think I would have continued on whether or not the blog became popular, but I can’t say that for sure. Just knowing that you guys are out there reading and taking part in this journey with me is motivational and inspirational.

So thank you.

This last year of my life has been a little hectic. But with my second son close to turning one now, I hope our life will begin to return to some sense of normalcy. And with that, I hope to give a little more time to the blog, especially taking part in the comments.

I try and comment at least once or twice on every post, but I haven’t always been great about this year. That’s my goal for the upcoming year. Just know that I do read every comment, even if I don’t respond!

I plan to have a book giveaway in September as another way of saying thanks, so be looking out for that.

Thanks again you guys. It’s been a great four years.
