101 Books Mailbag #3

By Robert Bruce @robertbruce76

It’s mailbag time!

Thanks for sending some questions for the 101 Books Mailbag last Friday. Now it’s time for answers.

Now that you are reading “Go Set a Watchman”, do you plan to change the title of your blog to 102 Books or just 101 Books with an *? – Don Royster

Still staying with the 101! Watchman was just a brief break outside the list.

Do you find it better to indulge in your book hangover or to immediately dive into the next one? -kelseyrogerss

I usually take a few days off in between books. Just 2-3 days. That allows me to write the review and get ready for the next book.

Do you read multiple books at the same time (not literally but…) instead of sticking to one and finishing it? -lillyinca

One at a time. I’m too easily distracted to multi-task with my books.

If someone penned a biography of your life so far what do you think it would be named?-lillyinca

Maybe Shut Up, I’m Reading.

Is The Great Gatsby very difficult only for me (I’m a native German speaker…) ?? It’s a great book but very demanding! – annalaenashearthbeat

It’s heavy in metaphor and symbolism. I think the story itself is simple enough and Fitzgerald’s prose is relatively easy to follow, but there’s definitely a lot more going on.

Is there any genre of book that you will never want to read? -BookerTalk

Vampire romance.

What character in the books you’ve read so far do you think you’re most like? -Buffalo

Great question! I see a little of myself in Nick Carraway. I’m an observer and definitely not a “life of the party” type—like to sit back and watch others have a little fun before I may (or may not) jump in.

That’s all for this time! Thanks again.

Next week, I’ll dive back into the Time list with my 83rd book from the Time list, Midnight’s Children by Salmon Rushdie.
