10 Things to Do in London This March

By Littlebckpacker @littlebckpacker

It’s March and spring is on its way. This means it is time to stop hibernating from winter and start exploring this wonderful city we call London. There is always so much to see and do in London, but normally I find the ideas and instantly forget them. In a bid to see more of London and to not forget those awesome links I’ve found, I’ve put together a little list for this month.

See wonder.land musical at the National Theatre.

This new musical inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland has a modern twist to bring it in line with today’s youth. Described as Alice for the online generation and with tickets starting from £15 I will certainly we seeing this soon. (Luckily you have until the 30th April to do so)

Treat your mom to afternoon tea, it is Mother’s Day this month after all.

I know, I know, who am I kidding of course all of the best afternoon teas are booked up for Mother’s Day already. However, they are plenty of other weekends to treat your mom in March. Like Valentine’s Day, I’m not much fore doing something on a specific day just because society says so. I’m heading on the BBBakery afternoon tea this month so I would suggest that as a good option.

Go to the Alice in Wonderland exhibition at the British Library.

I maybe just a little obsessed with Alice in Wonderland yes, but you can expect plenty of Alice inspired things popping up for the next few months as the countdown to the next movie begins. This exhibition basically sounds like am just for any Alice enthusiast not to mention the fact they have a shop…

Go to the Sunday Up Market in Brick Lane.

This amazing market is home to all types of glorious street from around the world as well as clothes and cute little things. It has such an electric atmosphere inside with people pouring in all of the doors, making it the perfect place to hangout on a Sunday and grab something a bit different for lunch.

Explore a part of London you aren’t familiar with and get lost.

I always thing I’m familiar with out parts of London given I have lived in the city twice and for a total of two years. However, London is ever changing, areas of London I once knew so well are totally different – or maybe it’s my memory but we’ll go with the former. Take time to explore an area you haven’t in a while and trust me you’ll get lost without meaning too.

Take a walk, anywhere in the city.

March marks the official start of spring and this means sunnier days, better weather and lots of flowers starting to pop up everywhere – or at least that is what we hope for her in England. There is no better time of year to get walking and enjoy the fresh air. Some of London’s famous parks would be a great place to start.

Boat Race last year

Boat Race last year

Go to the boat race – March 27th Putney to mortlake.

I went to this event last year and had an absolute blast. Expect hordes of people and crazy crowds around the start and finish lines but trust me it is worth it. The atmosphere is like a festival, people bring picnics (the alcoholic kind) and it feels like a real excuse to have a little party.

Celebrate St Patricks day with a pint of Guinness.

If you need an excuse for a day in the pub then St Patricks day is defiantly for you. On the 17th of the March the Irish typically drink many pints of Guinness and get merry like only the Irish can. There are plenty of Irish pubs in London to get you in the spirit of things.

Visit the sky garden.

This is very high on my London to do list, I just never manage to book tickets far enough in advance. Well now is your warning, tickets have available for mid-March and beyond right now. Pick and day and get yourself booked it, after all it is totally free!

And if none of the above appeal the escape London because after all it’s good to have a change of scenery.

There are so many destinations within an hours drive/train ride of London which will take you out of the city and make you feel like you’ve had that break away from the city. Why not take said trip over Easter and head further a field for longer?

Do you have something to add to this list I should try out this month? Let me know in the comments below.
