Honestly I started using the blue card that a friend gave me because of the 5+1 movie promo SM Cinema launched a couple of years ago. I thought that it would expire March 2015 but they kept it on as a perk for using the card more.
They’ve also expanded the services, which was pretty cool.
- You can use your E-Plus card to pay for parking. The catch is that you have to tap the card into the scanner when you go in, so it does require a bit of foresight since you have to have the card out. I’ve learned this the hard way.
- You can now use the E-Plus card to purchase items at the Snack Time bar. I think they’re still trying to promote this feature so you get 10% off your food items when you buy it using the card. I don’t know until when this will last though.
- You can use the E-Plus card to pay for your purchases at select grocery branches.
- You can also use it at select National Bookstores, which is pretty nifty.
- You have the option to reload credits via the BDO ATMs BUT there is a fee of ten pesos. I personally would never pay to do this but I guess if you’re pressed for time?
- Obviously you can use the E-Plus card to pay for your movie tickets. A couple of years ago the scanners at the cinema doors weren’t fully functional so I had to line up at the counter to get my ticket. However, they’ve since improved their services and now I can just go at the gate (granting that I have enough credits) and get my ticket right at the gate. The scanner thing isn’t the fastest thing in the world so it is still highly advisable that you arrive a few minutes before your movie starts. You can also use the card to purchase movie tickets at the SM Cinema website, although I’ve never tried this because the website is pretty wonky.
- The five different movies = 1 free movie pass thing is still running. Just like before though, you can only use your free movie pass to watch a movie on its second week run.
- You earn points when you use the E-Plus card to buy movie tickets. 1 2D movie ticket equals 1 point and if you earn 20 points, you get a free movie pass.
- Apparently it expires! I was informed a couple of weeks ago that my card has expired so I no longer earned points when I buy movie tickets using the E-Plus card. I renewed it for a hundred and fifty pesos but I did get a bag of caramel popcorn and a movie pass for any movie showing on its second week.
- You can check your points online. You just go to eplus.ph and enter your card number to see the details. Apparently you can register your E-Plus card online but I’m not really sure what good that will do.
Again, this is not a sponsored post but I just wanted to take the time to share information I’ve learned over the past couple of years about the card that I probably use the most. You can find out more about their deals and promos by following the E-Plus Facebook page.
