One of the thoughts that comes after we receive a flower bouquet is how to take care of the flowers and how to keep the flower bouquet beautiful & fresh for long period of time. Below we give some tips that you can use to keep your flower bouquet fresh and enchanting.
- Take the flowers carefully out of the cane basket or any other vase or packaging that it came in.
- If there is any string or elastic holding the bouquet, do not remove it. If you remove it, the bouquet will spread out and may not look good.
- Remove any unwanted leaves on the flower that might go below the water line. You can also remove any old and withering leaves on the stems of the flower.
- In case any of the petals of the flowers is coming out, prune it properly.
- Generally Rose and other flowers have some guard petals that hold the flower tightly, you can also remove them for the flower to open completely.
- Cut the end of the stem of the flower at an angle of 45 degrees, It is cut at an angle to expose more surface to water.
- Generally it is recommended to cut the stem under running water for immediate absorption. you can also follow this good practice of cutting the flower stem under running water.
- Put the flowers in a clean large bowl and fill 3/4 of the bowl with clean water.
- Arrange the flowers in the bowl to look beautiful.
- Change the water and trim the stem of the flowers every two days to keep the flower fresh.
Additional Tips :
- You can put Flower Food available with any florist to increase the life of the bouquet.
- You can also put the bouquet in the Fridge every night for 8 hours to keep the flowers fresh for a longer period of time.
- Some people also put Soda or mouth wash in the water to provide sugar to nourish the fresh flowers as well as inhibit bacterial growth. Even a coins is kept at the bottom of the bowl to keep the flower bouquet fresh.
- You can also add very little bleach in the water to keep the bacteria growth away from water.
- Avoid direct sunlight, heat and dust to keep your rose bouquet looking fresh.
- Avoid keeping the flower bouquet near a electronic equipment like TV, Microwave, Fridge etc since these equipment emit heat which will make your flowers dry out quickly.
- Flower always love a mist of water sprayed on top of it and the water droplets also makes the flower bouquet look good. Spray clean water in the morning on top of the flower bouquet, be careful not to break off some of the petals of the flowers while spraying the water.
- Unopened flower bloom can be opened quickly by keeping them in running warm tap water.
- Note that some flowers are better kept separate than other flowers like daffodils because they produce saps that can gums up stems of other flowers.
- Sometimes hard woody stem ends of flower plants can be smashed a little bit with an hammer to allow easier absorption of water.
