Hair: let’s face it, it’s often the bane of your existence. Not only do you have to wake up in the morning and put on clothing, but you also have to tame the wild mess perched atop your head. This list goes out to all those musicians who not only inspire us with their music, but use their tresses to impress and inspire us too. We salute you, and your fabulous style.
10. Thom Yorke
His image may be somewhat akin to that of the homeless heroine addict who lives under a bridge by your building, but without his “look”, could we really love him as much? You can’t think about Thom Yorke without thinking of his wonky eye, his crazy gyrating and, most importantly, his luscious locks pulled back into a pony to complete the look.
9. Solange
Not only is it impossible to be in love with her flawless features, but just look at her hair. The time and effort that it must take to maintain it is probably ten times the amount of time I take in a year to do my hair. Put simply, it is the very definition of fly.
8. Stephen Pope of Wavves
On the opposite end of the spectrum from Solange is Stephen Pope. His hair is wild and free like the wind.
7. Alice Glass of Crystal Castles
Something about the off color and the thinness really embody her crazy personality. Sure, there are plenty of artists who dye their hair weird colors and have severe bangs, but more than anyone, it just works for Alice Glass.
6. Ryan Adams
He is the master of the “I just rolled out of bed and this just sort of happened and it is completely working for me, probably cause I’m stupid attractive” look.
5. Jehnny Beth of Savages
Severe, strong and cooler than you can ever be, Jehnny Beth’s hair the ultimate pixie do. This is my kind of hair cut and, just like Alice Glass’ hair, it embodies her perfectly.
4. Tegan and Sara
Not only do their faces match, but their hair always matches too.
3. Samuel Beam of Iron and Wine
Just like Jesus, Samuel Beam’s hair will lead his people to salvation. Just look at it float on the breeze.

No words can possibly do this justice, none. Seriously, I tried to write down adjectives and adverbs to describe it but my hands were only able to type “eeeeeppp!”
1. Dolly Parton
You may be thinking, “wait, Dolly Parton isn’t an Indie artist”, but it doesn’t matter. You cannot have a conversation about music, hair, or being awesome without Dolly Parton. She just wins everything.
