When we hear the term “log cabin” many of us picture a cozy, hand-built cottage made of logs, or think of famous persons from history that are associated with the buildings, such as Abraham Lincoln.

However log cabins vary a great deal in style and size, and we have put together several amazing log cabins that will take your breath away.

The world’s largest log cabin is the Fairmont Le Château Montebello in Quebec,  Canada. This functioning hotel was built in 1930 and was the site of several international summits, including the 1981 G7 summit. You can view more photos of this amazing structure on the resort’s official website.

Prior to the Château Montebello, the largest log cabin was the 1905 Lewis & Clark Exposition in Portland, Oregon, which tragically burned to the ground in 1964 in a spectacular fire:

Amazing Private Log Homes

However, there are a great many incredible log cabins in existence that are private residences and still standing.

This home overlooks the Grand Teton National Park, built to resemble the lodge at Yellowstone National Park. Huge windows take advantage of the view.

This impressive home is found in the Rockies in Colorado. At 10,000 square feet, it provides a rustic but luxurious home for the lucky family that gets to live there. Check out the hand carved woodwork and the spiral staircase that are the work of master craftsmen.

This collection of stills from a home in Pennsylvania show off another inspiring log home with lots of light, atmosphere, and a unique character all its own.

Here is another log home that showcases modern features, such as a home theater, blended with the natural feel of a home made from raw timbers. Check out the entryway and front porch on this one!

If you are ever in Colorado, you could stay at this amazing bear cabin in Breckenridge. Just because your in a cabin does not mean you cannot enjoy a jacuzzi tub or wet bar during your stay.

This one is referred to as the “Log Mahal.” Six car garage and spacious home made entirely of stone and timber. Some of the amazing finds are the replica saloon, included art gallery, wine tasting room, and more surprises. Sit back and enjoy the narrated tour.

Another Colorado wonder, this $12 million home allows you to enjoy the great outdoors from inside. Each room, including the ski room, is crafted to suit its purpose with style – check out the kitchen and butler’s pantry, as well as the wine cellar.

This home is set apart by the truly inspiring fact that it was built by hand, and the short video not only gives a tour but tells the story of its construction. The fact that it was lovingly made by a group of amateurs – a church youth group, in fact – makes it an impressive tiny log home in its own right.
