$1 Million Indiegogo Project to Make Working Hoverboards by 2015

Posted on the 02 July 2013 by Nrjperera @nrjperera

A lot of amazing things that we saw in the Back to the Future II movie, like 3D movies, tablets, video chatting and even flying cars already exist. But a real working hoverboard, one that you can use is still not one of them. Well, you wont have to go back to the future to take a real hoverboard for a ride if this new crowdfunding project can reach it’s goal.

Robert Haleluk who works for Haltek Industries has a big dream to create hoverboards that everyone can use. No, he’s not joking or out of his mind. He has already launched a project over at Indiegogo to collect funds to make this dream happen, with a goal of at $1 million USD. Sadly it has only reached $71 dollars, so far. Not sure if it can reach $1 million goal with only 57 days to go but, if it somehow does, these guys promises to launch these hoverboards publicly by Summer 2015. And for a $10,000 pledge they will deliver a hoverboard to your doorstep.

“The technology needed to make a real working Hoverboard already exists, it’s just very expensive and not easily obtainable right now. Well, that’s one of the key things that we want to solve with this project. We want to spend the time and effort to figure out exactly what is needed and focus on bringing that technology down to a price that is affordable and obtainable.”

Like they say, the technology to make an affordable hoverboard still needs some serious work and is “probably impossible.. but certainly worth a try!”.  A lot of companies tried to make this happen over the past few years, yet failed to make it commercially available. Can these guys make it happen? Even if they do, would you consider buying a hoverboard for $10,000 or buy a car instead?
