Story: Wired Shut starts with a recovering author Reed Rodney (Stadel) living in a remote mountain home. He has been through major surgery on his jaw, meaning he can’t talk and when he gets a visit from his estranged daughter Emmy (Sharp).

It becomes clear their relationship has become strained over the years, as the surprise visit leads to an alternative motivation for Emmy to be visiting.

Verdict on Wired Shut

Wired Shut is a mystery horror thriller following an author that finds himself unable to talk due to surgery. He gets a surprise visit from his daughter who has alternative means for visit, putting their relationship on the line.

The story does have an intensity toward what it going on, but it doesn’t seem to use the injury as a major factor in what is happening. It feels like having that injury should mean something, rather than just be in the movie.

The performances and location are strong, but by the end of the film, it feels like everything we have seen before, and nothing is as intense as it should be.

Final ThoughtsWired Shut is a flat thriller that brings nothing new to the table.
