Weekly Wrap Up

By Sara Zwicker @SaraZwicker

Hi my friends, it’s been a while (a week to be exact!) I’m sorry that I have continued to be MIA during my vacation and holidays.  I have been spending my vacation playing and soaking up every moment with Ashton and my family. I didn’t mention it last week since I only posted on Monday, but we found out at the end of last week that my Mom was coming out of remission and it kind of put a damper on things.  There is never a good time to get news like this, but a few days before the holidays is kind of the worst time for it to happen.  I spent a few days trying to wrap my head around this and getting focused on what we need to do moving forward.  My Mom’s doctors are super aggressive and she had a body scan immediately and we have an appointment next Monday at Dana Farber where we hope to have more answers and a plan of attack.  In a way, it’s been great to have this time off to spend with her.  I know she has really enjoyed all the extra time with me and Ashton and it helped to put the holidays back in perspective for me.  You can’t get missed time back with those you love, so you have to take advantage of the time you do have with them! So, between this news and running around after Ashton, when it comes time to sit down at the end of the day, I just haven’t had it in me to write up a post, but I promise it won’t be like this for much longer. I go back to work next Monday and things will hopefully get back to “normal.”  I am still being very consistent with my workouts, even with all the chaos of the holidays, which makes me really happy, so let’s take a look at what last week looked like!

Week: 12/21-12/28

Monday: I did the Asylum Back to Core video in the morning before Ashton woke up.  I didn’t sleep well and was up super early so I figured I would bang out my workout so I had his naptime to finish wrapping the few last minute things I had picked up for Christmas.

Tuesday: We spent the morning running errands and I was already beat come naptime but I knew I had to get the Asylum Strength video done and that is just what I did.  It’s amazing how tired I was before the video but once I get moving, I felt like a new (much sweatier) person.

Wednesday: We woke up late and were rushing to get out of the house in the morning.  We always spend Christmas eve with my family and I like to get there nice and early so I have the whole day to be with them, help them get ready for our big dinner, etc.  Thankfully it was a rest day for my Asylum program so when we got down to my Mom’s, we went out for breakfast and were able to relax all day and just enjoy each other.

Our annual Christmas dinner was great and there were about 20 of us, with almost all of us doing this dinner for the past 30 or so years, pretty crazy! Ashton also surprised me with this beautiful to the moon and back necklace from him (courtesy of my Mom!)

After the dinner festivities were over, Robyn, Ashton, my Mom and I headed back to our house to get ready for the big day!

Thursday: Christmas morning started off slow in our house with Ashton and I sleeping in.  Once everyone was up, we tried to get Ashton excited to open his gifts, but he just wasn’t that interested.  What???  So we waited a bit, ate some breakfast and we started by opening our stockings.  Once again Ashton was slow to start but once he got into it, he ended up opening all his gifts, then mine, Robyn’s and my Mom’s. It was really cute as he asked if he could help us too!  The whole things took about an hour and then we had a TON of new toys to play with, which we did until lunch and nap time!  Once Ashton was down for his nap, Robyn was busy preparing for our big Christmas dinner (and our 12 guests), my mom took a nap with Ashton and I did the Asylum Speed & Agility video and then took a shower. Everyone started arriving at 3:30 p.m. and we hung out, watched Christmas movies and ate!

After everyone left and we got cleaned up and Ashton went to bed, my Mom, Robyn and I watched The Interview, which you could rent for $6 via YouTube.  We really liked it, we love the humor in Seth Rogen’s movies and I was really excited we were able to watch it in the comfort of our own home instead of going to the theater to see it! I wish all new movies were released this way!

Friday: On Friday morning, we woke up, ate breakfast and Ashton and I brought my Mom back home.  Robyn was working so after we left my Mom, we ran some errands.  Once Ashton went down for his nap, I did the Asylum Vertical Plyo video and then got cleaned up.  We ended the night with grinders from our local pizza shop and Robyn and I watched a Netflix movie.

Saturday: We had Ashton’s sports program in the morning and it was Robyn’s turn to play with him so I just watched.  After sports we went to a bunch of stores scoring some HUGE post Christmas deals on Christmas decorations.  That was seriously a workout in and of itself.  After we got home and refueled, Ashton took a nap and I did the Asylum Strength video. I think this may be my favorite of all the videos, I just love the controlled burn!!

Sunday:  It was a rest day from Asylum but we took down all our Christmas decorations and tree which was quite a workout when you are trying to keep a toddler from breaking all your ornaments and decorations!

:)
I also started up the #30dayyogachallenge from Instagram through DoYouYoga, so I did Day 1 which was a hip opening routine and called it a day!

So, as I said, it was a bust week with Christmas, but my workouts this week were great and I didn’t get derailed with the holidays, which I am really grateful for.  I am still following the Asylum workout schedule and can’t believe I just started the 3rd week. It’s actually going by pretty quickly and I am already planning “what’s next” in addition to the #30dayyogachallenge, so stay tuned!

Happy Monday my friends–I will see you all on Wednesday with a recap of 2014!
