Verdict on Vampus Horror Tales

Segunda Cita (D. Isaac Berrocal)

Segunda Cita follows a woman meeting up for her second date, she goes to the man’s home for the date. This creates an uncomfortable situation as the two show their differences. The story creates an uncomfortable situation even if it ends up just going for a bigger shock than it needs to. 2/5

Cumpleanos (D. Erika Elizalde)

Cumpleanos follows a young couple going on a haunted house ride, they find themselves alone on the journey when things take a darker twist. This is another one that is happy to bring us a few twists and turns along the way. However, it doesn’t seem to get that much from the twisted ideas. 2/5

La Boda (D. Manuel Martinez Velasco)

La Boda follows a bride and groom that have become lost inside a building. They hear people celebrating and search for a way to get to the party, as today is their wedding days. However, they are not marrying each other, they have different weddings to attend and find themselves even more confused about their connection.

This is a weird one to keep on top of, it throws us into a mystery quickly but doesn’t seem to give us enough to go along with. However, it does have a great twist to everything that has been going on. 3/5

Vampus (D. Victor Matellano)

Vampus follows our storytelling, collecting his latest victim to feed the more aggressive creatures of the night. Between each story we get to see what is going on in his world. This sees him collecting bodies to feed even more of the creatures of the night. It is a nice wrap-around story, blending well between the story being told. 3/5

Linaje (D.  Piter Moreira)

Linaje follows a woman getting transformed into a vampire. The vampire that did this to her looks to care for her and prepare her for what happens next. This takes us through the early transformation and the ravenous mindset she finds herself in. The movie does have the most fun about it, as we get to see the bloodiest addition to the story. 4/5

Final ThoughtsVampus Horror Tales is a solid little horror anthology with twisted tales.
