Tyler, The Creator May Have Come Out On His New Album

Splash! Festival 2013 - Day 3 - Performances Featuring: Tyler, the Creator Where: Gräfenhainichen, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany When: 13 Jul 2013 Credit: Sebastian Gabsch/Future Image/WENN.com **Not available for publication in Germany, Poland, Russia, Hungary, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Serbia, Croatia, Slovakia**

Tyler, the Creator’s upcoming album Scum Fuck Flower Boy (Note from Michael: That was my first AOL username but with a 79 at the end) leaked over the weekend, and some of the lyrics got wieners wagging over whether Tyler was coming out of the closet or just trolling about coming out of the closet. Songs “I Ain’t Got Time” and “Garden Shed” had everyone wondering if the rapper dabbled in D (via HighSnobiety) after the former included lyrics saying, “I been kissing white boys since 2004.” Guess you’re alone in your thinking, ‘Pac.

“Garden Shed” features Tyler spitting out something that many think is an ode to a gay relationship:

That was real love I was in, Ain’t no reason to pretend/

All my friends was lost / They couldn’t read the signs /

I didn’t want to talk / I tell ’em my location and they ain’t want to walk”

Telling ’em your location and a bro not wanting to walk is the official story of Grindr. I couldn’t even get the -3 at the end of my block to hobble eight doors down back in the day, so I feel your pain, Ty! This is not the first time he’s even hinted at coming out:

I TRIED TO COME OUT THE DAMN CLOSET LIKE FOUR DAYS AGO AND NO ONE CARED HAHAHHAHAHA

If true, it would be an interesting development, as the Creator hasn’t exactly had the best relationship with the gay community. His frequent use of “faggot” had some comparing his early career to that of Eminem’s. He rambled out a weird explanation to Arsenio Hall in 2011 about saying “faggot” and said that it’s just a word, and that if you’re clutching your pearls over it, then you probably are one.

“That’s just a word. You can take the power out of that word. The way that I see things, it’s you chose to be offended if you care more about stuff like that. And that might sound very ignorant, but if you’re a black person and someone calls you the n-word and you get offended, maybe you might be. But if I know that I’m not a n-word…I’m not gonna get offended because I know that I’m not that. Frank [Ocean] is gay and I use that word all the time. He doesn’t care because he knows me. He knows when I say that word I’m not thinking of someone’s sexual orientation. It’s just another word that has no meaning.”

Sara Quin of Tegan & Sara complained in an open letter about how his lyrics hate on gays and women, and he hit them back with the old “lesbians need dick” dingle.

If Tegan And Sara Need Some Hard Dick, Hit Me Up!

No word on if they ever took to his kind offer, but it’s nice to know Elton John has more options the next time he goes looking for rap more up his alley!
