The Small Screen Diaries- 04/18/24

My day was full yesterday, so not a lot going on here. Amazon did renew Fallout. So, that expected thing happened.

Ghosts (Paramount Plus), which I know is confusing, because it also aired live last night, but I did watch finally last weeks episode, with the poltergeist. So, I’m back to being an episode behind in the same day. It’s a funny show, the audio description is OK. Middle tier.

Not Dead Yet (Hulu) got priority viewing from me on Hulu since it is heavily on the bubble. I like this show, I don’t think ABC will pick it up, as they have a storied history recently of axing solid comedies just when they are starting to take off. But, who knows. This episode’s B-plot between Edward and Lexie’s father was far more entertaining, as Edward’s inability to pick up on social cues meant he was an actual rival in all the ways that terrific recurring Brad Garret hasn’t been used to. The audio description here just didn’t do much, even for a half hour sitcom. I wasn’t blown away by Ghosts but it felt like it made a stronger effort. For this episode, I’m going bottom tier.

And only because it looks so weird admitting I watched so little TV, I’ll mention that I did watch Grimmsburg, which is part of FOX’s Animation Domination, and has no audio description on Hulu, like the rest of these shows. Such a missed opportunity. Of the new titles added recently, including Krapopolis and 4th season The Great North, it is my least favorite. It is a show that sounds quirky on paper, but has a really hard time sustaining that running joke every episode, in just the first season. And, it needs audio description.
