I think I mention every week my newfound love for The Completely Made Up Adventures of Dick Turpin (Apple Plus). Not only is the half hour comedy hilarious, but it has some really great audio description that shapes this series very well. Six episodes in, and I’m getting more impressed by it. I’m not sure what else it could do for a series with this much dialogue, as it already does a lot. I’m a big fan of this and the audio description. Top Tier.
Third episode in on Ripley (Netflix), and we learn why Johnny Flynn will be submitting for Supporting not Lead.Just for those picking up what I’m putting down. This show really does just feel like a longer interpretation of The Talented Mr. Ripley, but Andrew Scott is doing some nice work. The audio description didn’t bother me, as I thought when it mattered, in the most pivotal scene, it answered any questions I might have. So, Top tier.
In the fifth episode of Renegade Nell (Disney plus) it seems as though the narration moved away from being cheeky. Since I’ve thought the narration was actually pretty solid otherwise, and we seem to be on a roll, I’ll bump this one up. Enjoy spending some time in the Top tier. Also, this one is definitely a sleeper hit waiting to happen if people actually watch it. Effortlessly charming, funny, and totally original. I don’t know how or why this is on Disney Plus, but such a great call for whoever greenlit this.
The Girls On The Bus (MAX) just kept driving along. This series has made progress in six episodes, in terms of getting me more interested, and finding its voice. I’m still not a huge fan, and the audio description here doesn’t have as much to work with in terms of being able to blow my mind as the previously listed period adventures, and one lush Italian murder mystery have. It’s just some journalists living this odd meld of political drama and romcom lifestyle.
