Story: The Net starts when expert computer programmer Angela Bennett (Bullock) gets a new puzzle to fix. She is used to seeing viruses on new software and fixing problems for companies, while never meeting people. However, Angela looks to take a break in Mexico, where she meets handsome stranger Jack Devlin (Northam).

When the two strike it off, they look like they will have a romantic weekend. However, Jack proves to have other ideas and Angela fights to escape. Upon trying to return home, she finds her identity stolen and nobody knows who she really is. With no money, resources or anything to her name, she must figure out what she has stumbled into.

Verdict on The Net

The Net is a mystery thriller following a computer programmer who likes to keep to themselves needing to prove their own identity after it gets stolen. She finds herself caught in the middle of a conspiracy that could change the country, but she has no one to turn to.

This is a thriller that gets to dive into the early dangers of the internet. It gets to mix a conspiracy idea into the story, with people in positions of power using that to get what they want. These two elements come together to give us a chase sequence throughout the film as Angela looks to expose the truth. Any good conspiracy theory movie gets us on the edge of our seat, this is no different. A young Sandra Bullock is the lead in the movie and gets to show us how big of a star she was always meant to be.

Final Thoughts The Net is a great edge-of-your-seat thriller wrapped up in a conspiracy theory.
