Verdict on The Independent

The Independent is a political thriller following an ambitious journalist looking to expose a massive secret about the latest election candidates. It looks to keep us guessing as to which side of the candidates is truly on the more loyal side.

This is a movie that looks to capture the same type of magic as other political thrillers. However, it misses that chance with certain things that happen. It tries to keep more of the movie more grounded on what is going on, instead of diving into the bigger conspiracy. This doesn’t seem any different than most political stories going on in real life. The performances are great throughout and the continuing rising careers of the younger stars come through.

Final ThoughtsThe Independent is a tense political thriller.
