That’s a Wrap – Frightfest 2023 Movie Review

Plot: Mason Maestro has just directed what he considers to be his masterpiece, a film titled ‘That’s a Wrap.’ The cast arrive to the studio excited to celebrate what they just created. But they aren’t the only ones there. Someone has dressed up as Mistress, the slasher in the film, and has decided to make the art real by staging their own highly stylized kill scenes. One by one, the cast disappears until the true nature of the evening is revealed.

Story: That’s a Wrap starts when Mason Maestro’s (Donavan) latest movie has wrapped. He is hosting a party for the stars of the movie including Harper (French), Amber (Gustin) and Lana (Polednak) to mention a few. However, the party turns more into a forced social occasion.

As the night starts to unfold, the cast starts getting picked off by a masked killer. Each death starts to reflect the characters in the movie, leading to the big question, who is behind the killings?

Verdict on That’s a Wrap

That’s a Wrap is a horror slasher movie following the cast of a newly filmed slasher being picked off by the killer from the movie. It follows the cast as they face the killer as the wrap party turns into a blood bath.

When it comes to horror movies using the production of a movie for horror, we have seen Scream 3 and Urban Legend 2 use this concept. However, this goes further to the post-production era, where the crew are looking to celebrate their work. When you watch this as a slasher, you get everything we would have expected to see. Each sequence brings us a bloody death as we see the killer picking off the victims. This movie is a welcome addition to the slasher collection in horror, getting to poke fun at the stereotypes that have become too famous along the way.

Final Thoughts –That’s a Wrap is a welcome addition to the slasher world of horror movies.
