Story: Suzume starts when a teenager Suzume starts having dreams of her childhood. She looks to return her routine when she meets a handsome stranger Souta on the way to school. This drives her curiosity, as he is in search of ruins and a door. As Suzume can’t shake the stranger and the request, she goes in search of him, discovering a door in her town’s ruins.

Verdict on Suzume

Suzume is a fantasy adventure movie following a teenager who gets caught up in a battle she had no idea happened. She must travel across Japan to prevent disasters and learn about her past.

This movie follows director Makoto Shinkai’s recent run of quality movies. In this movie, we continue to see the theme of impending disaster and a desperate battle to prevent it. The story gets to dive into traumatic experiences from a young girl’s past and helps her understand the importance of getting a job done.

When we look at the journey Suzume goes on, it is unlike anything a normal person goes on. However, the desire to learn more about one’s past drives her journey. Visually this is a beautiful movie too. The supporting characters including the cat Daijin and the seat version of Souta bring comedy to the movie too.

This could step into the position to get the best-animated movie of the year. It is a beautiful, visually stunning movie with a wonderful original story.
