Story: Re/Member starts as a lonely high school student Asuka (Hashimoto) sees herself thrown into a nightmare situation. She finds herself around fellow students, Takahiro (Maeda), Rumiko (Yamamoto), Atsuhi (Kamio), Shôta (Daigo) and Rie (Yokota) in a game. The game sees the six students trying to elude the Red Person that will kill them.

However, in the morning, the friends get to live the day again. This gives them a chance to figure out what they need to do, as they learn they must solve the murder of the Red Person. They must locate the body parts to end the time loop they have become trapped in.

Verdict on Re/Member

Re/Member is a horror mystery following six students that must put their differences aside to solve the game they have been dragged into. The game is known as the Body Search and the Red Person hunts them down. However, they get to come back to life and re-live the same day over and over again until they complete it.

This movie can easily be compared to ‘Happy Death Day’. It is a lot more violent with the deaths the characters go through and doesn’t have the same sense of humor. However, the supernatural elements make this very interesting. The mystery of how they got trapped in the game is interesting. While the deeper meaning of treating people equally in life is clear.

The creature’s creation is brilliant, as it continues to morph with each encounter with it. It creates an amazing level of fear with what it can do, stronger, more powerful and more deadly. The performances are strong from the six stars who bring the different teenagers to life.

Where to Watch: Re/Member is available on Netflix Now.

Final ThoughtsRe/Member is a deadlier more violent vision of Happy Death Day.
