Story: Puppet Killer starts when Jamie (Paunovic) decides to invite his high school friends Simon (Majdoub), Jessie (Durupt), Rick (Harmon), Brooke (Guerrero) and Lee (Cassie) to his old family home, where his mother passed away and his stepmother vanished suddenly, even though Jamie believes she was killed by his puppet Simon.

Thoughts on Puppet Killer

ThoughtsPuppet Killer is a horror comedy that will dive into a mix of the slasher movie, along with the demented toy, in this case a puppet. This is a story that will lean more into the comedy than the horror, which will take away from major discussion points the film could have. The idea that a young man could still be dealing with the pain of his childhood, that will see them getting to relive the nightmare, should be the major factor in this type of film, but the film gets caught up in trying to borrow from most of the most influential slashers in film history. The film does have a strange casting choice, with Aleks Paunovic playing a teenager, but he is around 50 years-old, it isn’t made clear if this was meant to be made for another comedic decision. The puppet design and movement are the strongest part of the film, which will get more laughs with the creative kills, which do tend to borrow from other films, much like how Gizmo did in Gremlins too. This is an easy to watch comedy horror, but it won’t be a film that breaks any barriers in what we have seen before.

Final Thoughts Puppet Killer is an easy to watch comedy, that will have certain strange decisions involved.
