All the Original Movies for You in 2024: Get Ready!
2023 is coming to an end and it is time to look ahead to the 2024 calendar. We are due a ton of movies again, which leaves me wanting to break this into two lists: an original list and a franchise/sequel.
Today, we are looking at the original movies; as always, this is not a ranking, just a list of 10. The movies for this list are based on UK release dates because we often get some award movies later than the rest of the world. This also becomes more difficult because a lot of original movies tend to hold back on their release dates, so I am sure I am going to miss the best ones.
Most Anticipated Original Movies Coming Out in 2024
1 – The Iron Claw (Feb 9th)
The true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, who made history in the intensely competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s. As a wrestling fan, I am interested in learning more about the Von Erich’s as I know their story has a massive reputation.
2 – The Beekeeper (Jan 12th)
In The Beekeeper, one man’s brutal campaign for vengeance takes on national stakes after he is revealed to be a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as “Beekeepers”.
3 – Argylle (Feb 2nd)
An introverted spy novelist is drawn into the activities of a sinister underground syndicate. Even though this looks a lot like The Lost City, it still looks like it will be a lot of fun.
4 – Imaginary (Mar 8th)
A woman returns to her childhood home to discover that the imaginary friend she left behind is very real and unhappy that she abandoned him.
5 – Mickey 17 (Mar 29th)
Bong Joon Ho’s latest movie has been kept secretive. No plot is planned, but we know the Paradise director could offer us something extremely interesting.
6 – IF (May 24th)
Follows a young girl who goes through a difficult experience and then begins to see everyone’s imaginary friends who have been left behind as their real-life friends have grown up. John Krasinski is back with another new movie and this one looks like a whole lot of fun.
7 – Borderlands (Aug 9th)
A feature film based on the popular video game set on the abandoned fictional planet of Pandora where people search for a mysterious relic. Eli Roth’s vision of the video game is coming to life with a massive cast. This could be one of the most entertaining movies of the year and after Thanksgiving, I believe Roth will deliver again.
8 – Civil War (April 26th)
In the near future, a team of journalists travel across the United States during a rapidly escalating civil war that has engulfed the entire nation. Should we mention Alex Garland directing and we are sold instantly.
9 – Horizon: An American Saga (June 28th)
Chronicles a multi-faceted, 15-year span of pre-and post-Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West. Kevin Costner returns to behind the camera for another tale in an all-star cast. The story is split between two movies being released in 2024.
10 – The Watchers (June 7th)
The Watchers follows Mina, a 28-year-old artist, as she gets stranded in an extensive, immaculate forest in western Ireland. After finding shelter, she becomes trapped alongside three strangers, stalked by mysterious creatures each night. Did I mention this is directed by M Night Shyamalan’s daughter Ishana Shyamalan? This is enough to make we see any movie with that family name attached to it.
