Story: Mandrake starts when probation officer Cathy Madden (Mullins) starts helping her latest client Mary Laidlaw (Crotty). Mary Laidlaw is known as Bloody Mary because of the murder she committed, and the town isn’t happy having her back around.

When a disappearance happens in the town, the fingers point straight to Mary, but Cathy has her alibi. Things only take a darker turn when more of the past becomes clear and the town will do anything to stop the events from happening again.

Verdict on Mandrake

Mandrake is a horror mystery taking us into a world where an unknown evil returns, as a known killer is released from prison. It creates a mystery about what is really going on, one they can create a mob mentality with the circumstances.

The movie does a great job of creating tension, mystery and dread. Each sequence brings more terror for the characters as the truth becomes shocking and takes things up at every moment of the film. It will leave you shocked and makes us go through truly terrifying moments.

The performances escalate the horrors we go through. It is especially good to see young Jude Hill from ‘Belfast’ continue his young career. This is also a movie that you have to pick up in the little clues planted along the way.

Where to Watch: Mandrake is available on Shudder from 10th November.

Final Thoughts Mandrake is a bleak, mysterious horror that isn’t afraid to shock you.
