Verdict on Maestro

Maestro is a drama following the lives of Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre. They met and rose up in the industry but lived a complicated relationship over the years. It follows them to get through the difficult times in an evolving industry.

For a biopic, this is a movie that doesn’t seem to reveal that much. It focuses too much on just their estranged relationship, which isn’t that interesting to learn about. There is an open discussion about relationships and how an era ago people would have kept things secret from the wider world. However, there isn’t enough emphasis placed upon this side of the story. While the performances are great, the lack of an interesting story holds this movie back too much.

Final Thoughts Maestro is a slow and dull biopic.
