It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (January 27)

By Joyweesemoll @joyweesemoll

The mini-Bloggiesta was fun! Even if I didn’t complete my list. I’m still working on the Google Authorship project. In fact, I found some new resources this morning! So watch for further posts about that.

Read

cover of Walls of Wind, Part 1 by J. A. McLachlan

Sci-fi or fantasy? Either way, Walls of Wind provides an intriguing story world to visit.

I finished The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin, our read along book for the New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge. We have discussed the first three quarters of the book:

  • Week 1
  • Week 2
  • Week 3

Watch for the final discussion post on Wednesday.

I counted The Happiness Project as the second of my four books for the New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge to support the resolution Be Happier. The first book, Reading Like a Writer by Francine Prose, supported the resolution Be a Better Reader.

I also finished the e-book Walls of Wind, Part 1 by J. A. McLachlan and enjoyed it. Watch for a review this week.

Reading

I’m back to reading the anthology Dates from Hell on my phone.

In print, I’ve nearly finished the third of my four books for the New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge: The Memoir Project by Marion Roach Smith. It looks like I may be leading a Twitter book discussion of that book at the end of February, so this would be a good time for you to read it, too!

I hoped to finish My Love Affair with England by Susan Allen Toth last week, but I’m not giving it enough time to get through quickly. Fortunately, the chapters read like stand-alone essays, so it’s working well to read it in small doses.

I’m still slowly making my way through Writing for Emotional Impact by Karl Iglesias, a book that is rippling with post-it notes while I try to work out how to apply what I’m learning to my current project.

I also started The Seventh Sinner by Elizabeth Peters last week. I thought I might make it through January without reading a novel because I had so many other books I wanted to read, but I couldn’t stand it.

Will Read

Next up is the last of my four books for the New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge: The War of Art by Steven Pressfield.
