Story: I Love My Dad starts when Chuck (Oswalt) finds himself losing complete contact with his son Franklin (Morosini). He has been a flaky father constantly letting down Franklin. Chuck wants to get back in contact with Franklin and he finds himself creating a fake profile of a woman.
Becca (Sulewski) is created to be a love interest. However, Chuck finds things getting complicated when Franklin wants to meet her. This creates a unique bonding experience for the pair as they go on a road trip for the first time in years, but how will Franklin react to the truth?
Verdict on I Love My Dad
I Love My Dad is a comedy following a father’s desperate attempts to rebuild his relationship with his son. It shows an already unstable young man put into a false relationship, leaving us guessing how long this act can remain.
This movie is loosely based on the actual events of the writer, and director James Morosini. It sees the unlikely bond being created by a father and son without the son knowing it. Showing that parents could go to extraordinary measures to try and rebuild relationships in the family. There is plenty of morals being crossed in the movie, which ends up playing through the comedy we go through.
Patton Oswalt is the star of the show, he always has had the ability to bring awkward comedy to life. The movie does bring a lot of heart, even if not everything is directed in the most honest way.
