Grimm 1x07: Let Down Your Hair

Original Air Date: 16 December 2011

StorylineA mysterious homicide deep in the woods leads to Nick and Hank reopening a long-aborted missing persons case. When Nick suspects this abducted person might be a feral creature, he asks Monroe to help remind this wild child of her human nature.Best Quote:

Nick: I'm going back out there, and I want you to come with me.
Eddie: How did I know you were gonna say that?
Nick: Munroe, if she is something like you I cannot risk someone else's life taking them out there.
Eddie: Apparently you're willing to risk mine.

The Story: RapunzelIntro: "The enchantress was so hard-hearted that she banished the poor girl to a wilderness, where she had to live in a miserable, wretched state."Review: Just as Portland's underground life starts to learn about the existence of a Grimm in their midst, an old missing person's case is brought back out after Nick spots an unusual girl roaming the woods. While there was no real conclusion at the Grimm awareness riding around Nick - something I can't wait to see how it develops, the episode was full of action and, once again, with plenty of Monroe added to the mix.

The only complaint I have is the focus on Blutbaden yet again, and so soon after last week's crazy ride, but everything turned out great as we were privy to yet another side of Eddie's personality. We've seen his finicky side and his wild side, and this time he was put in the position of becoming sort of a mentor for the girl who'd lost her humanity after spending nine years trying to survive in the woods. I'd love for this relationship to grow deeper and have Monroe actually teach Holly all about her nature and about how to survive in society.
It was also great to see Monroe out in the field with Nick. It's always fun to see him make use of his Blutbad tracking qualities, not to mention the fact that he knows so much about medicinal plants. I should find a way of introducing him to my grandmother! Maybe Nick can find him a contractor job of some kind with the police station, though that would be hard to explain to the others. And probably the captain wouldn't go for it, since Eddie could probably figure him out quickly.
I loved the emotional layer this episode brought on, giving us the chance not only to see a different side of Monroe, but also a different side of Nick. So far, he's always out his policeman persona before anything else, but this time he was more concerned with Holly's safety than with finding Delmar Blake's killer. Maybe the fact that he was a pot farmer had something to do with all that, but still, it was a nice touch. And talking about the pot farm, did anyone else half expect to see Mr. Gold come out of the woods at some point?
Grimm takes a break until January, but not before it gave us the most awesome little scene yet: Monroe's above-and-beyond love of Christmas (wasn't that cool?) and his confirmation that Santa Claus actually exists.
