Girl on the River Needs Your Votes!

By Girlontheriver @girlontheriver

There have been many thrilling moments since Girl on the River first took to the airwaves (or, ahem, whatever it is that makes the interweb work…) just over a year ago, and it’s hard to pick my favorite. There was the invitation to row with a selection of Leander’s finest oarsmen. There was the excitement of the President of the Oxford University Boat Club replying to a post about Cheney School to offer his services as a coach for the afternoon (not to mention the fantastic day watching it all happen). Then there was the Twitter banter with Matthew Pinsent himself (faint). And many, many laughs with my wonderful readers over things like What Not to Wear on the river and Twitter stereotypes.

Girl on the River needs your votes!
By far the most exciting development to date, though, has been Girl on the River’s nomination in Wales Blog Awards for Best Sports Blog, Best New Blog and Best Writing on a Blog.

With over 300 entries this year, I wasn’t expecting to make it to the shortlist and was staggered to find myself shortlisted in three categories. More humbling still, I’m in the company of some superb blogs, and am thrilled to have got a rowing blog into the sports category (how often does that happen?)

But it doesn’t end there. There’s another category – the People’s Choice awards – for Best Blog, and this is where I need your help. This one is voted for by members of the public – that’s you! – and I need your votes. If you like Girl on the River – or if you’re just tickled by the idea of a rowing blog winning an award – all you need to do is click here and then click on Girl on the River. It’s that simple. You don’t need to register and they won’t ask for your email address, your credit card details or the name of your first pet. One click and you’re done. And you’ll have a friend for life in the form of a diminutive rower in a damp corner of Wales.

Go on. You know you want to.
