Story: Esme, My Love starts when Hannah (Weckstein) takes her daughter Esme (Marshall) to her family’s abandoned farm. Hannah has seen symptoms of a terminal illness and wants to use this time to connect better with her daughter.

As the pair spend their time away from the world, they both start showing signs of seeing unexplained moments. It leads to Hannah welcoming the visits, while Esme starts wondering why they are there.

Verdict on Esme, My Love

Esme, My Love is a mystery thriller following a mother taking her daughter to a remote location to connect. However, it starts to show a more disturbing side as the mother believes they have a deeper connection for being there. All while the daughter gets increasingly scared about their situation.

This is an unsettling movie that keeps you on edge and unsure of reality throughout. It manages to keep an unease in every scene of the movie, as the relationship between mother and daughter is tested. We get a mystery thrown in as well as deeper emotions that could change people’s minds.

However, on the unclear side of most of the movie, is what is going on in the wider world. There are hints of a wider problem, while it could easily just be a problem the two are facing. This adds to some of the suspense and unease of everything unfolding in the movie. The performances from Audrey Grace Marshall and Stacey Weckstein are wonderful, grabbing our attention with every action they do.

Final Thoughts – Esme, My Love is an unsettling movie filled with an uneasy feeling throughout.
