Story: El Conde starts as we meet the Count (Vadell) a vampire who has lived for centuries. He has attempted to stop revolutions and protect people. But in the end, he ends up using his time to become rich and sample blood from victims around the world.

The Count has a family who must follow his rules, but he has decided he wants to die once and for all. However, his latest attempt sees him going against his plan, as the person sent by the church heads to the home, Sister Carmencita (Luchsinger).

Verdict on El Conde

El Conde is a fantasy comedy following an aging vampire who has decided he wants to leave this world. However, a new visitor offers him a new challenge which could expose his biggest secrets and ruin his family.

This is a movie that uses comedy to cover over certain vampire traits which can overshadow the movies we know. It uses the idea of the Count surviving through generations and being forced to adapt to changes. This is odd, weird and comical from start to finish. It is the closest to ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ with the universe created and placed us in.
