Hilmar Oddsson's Driving Mum: A Black Comedy Story

Tull Stories, in association with Ursus Parvus, have released the new trailer and poster for their award-winning black comedy Driving Mum, coming to UK Cinemas from 1st March.

Driving Mum, an Icelandic/Estonian co-production, is directed by Hilmar Oddsson and stars Þröstur Leó Gunnarsson (Noi the Albino), Kristbjörg Kjeld (Alma), Hera Hilmar (Mortal EnginesSee) and Tómas Lemarquis (Blade Runner 2049). The film had its world premiere at Tallinn Black Nights Festival (2022), where it won “Best Original Score” and “Grand Prix for Best Original Film”. Driving Mum also won “Best Film” at Nordic Council (2023) and both “Media Choice Award for Film” and “Audience Choice Award for Film” at the Shanghai International Film Festival (2023). Driving Mum was nominated for “Best Feature Film” at Cleveland International Film Festival (2023).

When Jon’s mother, the single most dominant person in his life passes away, his anchor is gone. Compelled to honor her last wish, he takes on a journey to bring the body across Iceland to her home village for the final rest. As they travel on, Jon’s whole existence obtains a new meaning…

Jonny Tull, Founder of Tull Stories, said: “Driving Mum is a beautiful film. It tells a terrific, idiosyncratic yet emotional tale and does so with laughter, tears, and that wry sense of Icelandic humor that we have come to love in the UK and Ireland. I’m thrilled that Tull Stories gets to bring Driving Mum to audiences and we hope that its beautiful cinematography, the stunning scenery of Iceland, and its very human story all make for a great night in the cinema for UK filmgoers”.

Driving Mum is coming to UK Cinemas from 1st March
