As always we look forward to the music of small films because it’s these films that have been giving a lot of fresh music off late. D For Dopidi has music by Mahesh Shankar and Bollywood musicians Sachin-Jigar of Shuddh Desi Romance fame. Naturally there are good expectations from the album but keeping the genre of film in mind, they are in check as well.

Rowdy Fellows is a hip hop number in Telugu. People who like the genre might find it alright. It has a catchy rhythm though overall sounds pretty messy. Meher Meher is a breezy instantly likable number. It is fresh and has nice arrangements that make for a very pleasant listen. Barring the catchy refrain of Ding Ding, Ding Dong is a passable number that tries too hard to be cool. In quite contrast is D for Dopidi which is an engaging and fun listen with catchy rhythm once again. Rum Pum Pum is noisy notwithstanding the superb guitar work.

The album suffers because of the extreme effort to sound different and cool. It’s all messy and noisy barring some good bits here and there and a song.

Picks of the album: Meher Meher
Rating: 2.25/5
