Children's early stages of growth and development depend upon the environment they are exposed to and the people with whom they are associated the most. When selecting a daycare it is necessary to check all the safety requirements. The daycare checklist Comprises the different daycare safety concerns.

Irrespective of the type of daycare, whether it is a child care center or a home day-care center, they must have an approved license from the state or local government according to daycare rules and regulations. This ensures the organization is monitored to meet the basic requirements and safety.

Kids when given one-on-one attention are comfortable communicating their unique needs. Smaller group sizes and staff ratios would help the faculty to attend to the kids in a better way.

For example, 1 adult for 3-4 infants, and 1 adult for young toddlers (1-2 years), the ratio varies depending on the kid's age and the daycare program.

Faculties in the daycare are supposed to be experienced and trained in handling kids. They are the ones who manage the child's behavior and social development.

The daycare must be transparent with the details of the food they will be providing for the kids. There must be a specific food chart designed to make sure the kids get the nutrition they are in need. Junk foods are to be avoided.

Screen time

Many daycares use the digital board for teaching purposes. Screen timing of the kids needs to be monitored regularly. It is good to ensure that the digital boards are limited only to a specific time and not just engage the kids in one place resulting in hindrance in their mobility.

Child-proofed and safe

The floor, windows, and staircases are to be examined for any breaks, cracks, or any type of danger that may injure the child. Anything harmful to be rectified.

Physical education plays an important role in early childhood. Parents or guardians must check for well spacious, safe areas for kids to play in accordance with the daycare safety regulations. The management has to be ready with a prepared list of fun-filled physical activities pre-planned. This mobility will help in channelizing their energy in the physical development of the child.

To ensure the safety and well-being of the children, the outer and inner premises of the daycare must be under camera surveillance. Bathrooms and diaper-changing tables may be an exception for the sake of privacy.

Passes for the attendees

Based on the daycare safety rules, proper maintenance of the attender's sheet or pass has to be provided for the parents or guardians to pick up the kids during dispersal.

Ventilated facility

The facility must have good ventilation with windows. Kids need to get fresh air for an active mindset. This will help them to be more relaxed. Child safety fans are only to be used.

Air purifiers can play big when the rooms are closed.

Electric outlets covered

All the electric outlets are to be placed at a certain height, covered, and out of the reach of children to avoid accidents.

Cleanliness inspection

Hygiene is the top concern when it comes to kids. A periodic check for cleanliness is mandatory.

Diaper Changing table

Diaper Changing tables are to be sanitized periodically. All the requirements for a hygienic diaper change are to be kept in place and ready.

Shelves and cabinets

The shelves and cabinets should have proper latches and be placed at an appropriate height, out of reach for the children.

The toys are to be sanitized frequently. All the toys should be out of repair and in good condition for kids to play. In a daycare checklist for baby, the toys and materials should be under proper inspection.

Hazard check

Kids tend to swallow anything and everything during their early stages. Only toys without any choking hazards have to be allowed inside the facility.

Peeling paint

The walls on the premises are to be neatly painted. Peeling paint condition can make kids play with it and sometimes consume paint. It is good to check the walls are in good condition.

First aid kit

    • All the staff and the workers are to be trained in giving first aid in any case of emergency.
    • Each room needs to have a fully stocked first aid kit to make sure the kids are safe.

Bathroom door

The bathroom doors should be designed in such a way that can be opened from the outside easily to avoid kids getting stuck inside.

Pushback door

All the doors must be pushback, to avoid any injury.

These are the focal parameters when it comes to a daycare checklist.
