Thoughts on Blood Harvest

Characters – Audrey Earnshaw is the daughter of an outsider in the community, she has been living in secret for years from the community, raised around the witches on the outside, she looks to get her own form of revenge on the community which shunned her mother, even if it is against what she wants. Agatha Earnshaw is one of the outsiders of the community, the people believe she cursed them and has kept her daughter hidden from the world to make sure the people can’t do anything to her. Colm and Bridget are a couple that lost their child to the suffering of the community, they are the ones that target the beginning of Audrey rage against them.

PerformancesThe performances in the film are strong enough without having the performers hitting the best level of intensity which would be required to make us believe everything that is going on.

StoryThe story here follows a community that has shunned a woman who raised her own daughter in secret, who decides to use her new power to get revenge on the people that left her family on the outside, using her newly acquired powers. This story may well have plenty of similarities to the Witch, with the community feeling that doesn’t welcome all, with the witch behavior slowly taking over what is happening in the community. We get a lot of building up for something shocking to happen, without us getting the true impact of most of these ideas.

HorrorThe horror in the film comes from seeing how the witch’s actions will make different things happen, each one is more away from us, with it being the action hinted and slowly revelled.

SettingsThe film sends us to the remote community which will see the actions of everything slowly start to get worse, it will show us the divide between both sides with everything happening.

Scene of the Movie – Welcome to the circle.

That Moment That Annoyed Me – We don’t get to see the true shock of each event.

Final Thoughts Blood Harvest is a horror that promises a lot of shocking moments only to fall short on delivering them.
