The National Zoological Gardens Department has planned to introduce a separate ticket for the visitors to take photographs with the animals and feed them at the zoological gardens from next year.
This is one of the programmes expected to be implemented by the department to increase its annual income next year.
According to the action plan for 2023, the National Zoological Gardens Department expects to spend Rs.285 million for the development of the Dehiwala, Pinnawala and Ridiyagama zoological gardens and the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage next year. Necessary funds for these projects will be allocated by the Consolidated Fund and the Zoological Gardens Development fund.
