Zinedine Zidane’s tribute to Algeria

Born in Marseille to Algerian parents from Béjaïa in Little Kabylia (Algeria), Zinedine Zidane praised the Algerian football team’s performance. With Algeria having just won the second African Cup of Nations in its history against Senegal (1-0), the Real Madrid coach paid a strong tribute to the Greens, but also to his brother, who recently passed away.

The youngest of five children, Zinedine Zidane paid tribute to Farid Zidane, the second of the siblings who died of cancer a few days ago (1965-2019). Like the former number 10 of the Bleus, the latter had played judo and football during his youth. He had also fought for the Algerian judo team in 1984 and 1986. Zinedine Zidane wrote about Instagram: “My Big Brother Farid must be proud! Congratulations to the Algerian team, the victory of an entire people… One, Two, Three, Three, Viva Algeria. I will continue to make her star shine every day of my life…. ».
