On ”Lost You”, Canadian dance music producers Zeds Dead provide a feel-good pop-house setting for Twin Shadow’s Gary Lewis Jr’s – and D’Angelo Lacy’s – wounded but bouncy vocals. It’s an old-school bent track, built upon propulsive 4/4 beats, rattling percussions and pulsating basslines that works well as a less-dynamic-more-on-the-button take on the rhythmical energy Disclosure achieved on “Latch”. Lewis Jr and Lacy complement each other nicely, creating the sort of bouncy infectious energy recognized from classic garage-house tracks.
I suspect this collaboration came as a surprise for many, and the result is a very different experience from what normally expect from either contributor. But “Lost You” is nothing less than a gleaming floor-killer, with plenty to like for fans of either camp.
