The company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection, Yuga Labs, announced on Friday that Spencer Tucker will be the company’s first Chief Gaming Officer.

Tucker will be in charge of making Yuga’s Web3 games, starting with the “Otherside” metaverse. This year, Otherside made a big splash on Ethereum when it had a huge spike in transactions and sold $561 million worth of NFT land in just 24 hours.

Tucker used to work at Scopely and GREE, where he was President of Games and Senior Vice President of Product, respectively.

Tucker wrote on Linkedin that he is “super stoked” to be joining Yuga, which also owns the NFTs CryptoPunks and Meebits.

“I believe the future of gaming will be powered by player ownership, social collaboration, and creative expression,” Tucker wrote.

Nicole Muniz, the CEO of Yuga, said in a statement that gaming is a “main focus” for the company going forward. The NFT company owns the top four Ethereum NFT collections of all time, according to data from OpenSea.

Even though Yuga raised $450 million in a seed round, its team is still small, and the company is now worth a staggering $4 billion. This year, the company has hired about 60 people, and by the end of 2022, it wants to have hired 100 people.
