YouTube removed 11.4 million videos between April and June, with the vast majority - 10.85 million - being reported from automated systems alone, the company said Tuesday. By the coronavirus pandemicThe video sharing website said it had "greatly reduced human review capacity" to check if videos violated their user guidelines. As a result, it opted for "over-enforcement" through the use of automated systems, with YouTube removing more than double the videos it had removed between January and March.
"The decision to over-enforce these policies - out of caution - resulted in more than a threefold increase in the removal of content that our systems suspected to be associated with violent extremism or potentially harmful to children," said YouTube . "This includes ventures, challenges or other innocently published content that could endanger minors."

YouTube typically uses automation to tag videos that people then rate. Since this time only automation was in the foreground, it was ensured that more employees were employed in the appointment process so that the appointment process could be reviewed quickly. Less than 3% of moves resulted in an appeal, but YouTube had twice as many reinstalls as it did last quarter.
Of the videos removed, 3.8 million were removed for child safety reasons, 3.2 million for spam or fraud, 1.7 million for nudity or sexual content, 1.2 million for violence, and 900,000 for promoting violence.
