You’re In The Way!!

By Blairbarnes

It’s an evening music night at work. It’s sort of a trendy cafe and a
rowdy local musician is playing. Nobody is really ordering food due to
the late hour but ordering liquor like crazy. A large group of people
who all look underage come in and take over two empty tables near the
front. Instead of sitting around their tables like normal people
however they instead askew their chairs and pull more up. I go deliver
them menus and try to take their drink order. They inform me that they
aren’t drinking (as if they’re even old enough to). I mention the
table to my co-worker and she tells me that she tried to take their
order but they told her they had no intention of ordering anything.
Not too long after some more people join their table(s) and they grab
even more random chairs and completely block the aisle. I lose rock,
paper, and scissors and get the unfortunate pleasure of telling them
to move as it’s a fire hazard. The man doing the biggest blocking of
an aisle shuffles an inch and then irately goes on about the terrible
service. My friend who was dining tries to go to the washroom a couple
moments later and has to tell that man to move his chair. A few
minutes later I’m in the kitchen and my manager asks me if I served
that table. I told her what happened and then she laughs; she’s
already been told what happened by my co-worker. My manager then
proceeds to tell me how she put the man in his place (after all we
where shoo’d away twice) and then makes them completely vacate the
tables they commandeered and take a large table in the back with a
shitty view of the music.
