MY REVIEW:
You Make It Feel Like Christmas by Francis Ray
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
You Make It Feel Like Christmas by Donna Hill and Francis Ray is a 2021 St. Martin’s Press publication.
This book was not on my holiday reading list this year. I just happened to see it at the library and was so thrilled to see Francis Ray’s name on the bill, I snapped it right up.
This book consists of two novellas.
The first one is ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’ and is written by Donna Hill.
Denise and Edward have been married over twenty years, and Denise has always been the one to care for the house and the kids. She wants for nothing, but with the kids grown, she yearns for a chance to spread her own wings.
Edward, though, is opposed to her doing anything outside of planning family gatherings, cooking his meals and seeing that the household runs in a smooth fashion.
Knowing that any attempts to talk over her feelings with Edward would only fall on deaf ears and lead to a no-win argument, Denise decides to shake things up a bit… or a lot…
This is a solid holiday story, featuring adults on the mature side, so it was right up my alley. I loved the side dramas involving Denise’s children and how Edward, who was totally clueless, finally realizes what it will take to win his wife back!
Overall, a very nice, clean holiday romance!
The second story is ‘The Wish’ by Francis Ray.
I grabbed this book on impulse because of Francis Ray’s name on the cover.
Unfortunately, this was not the best story, and so I’m not going to review it.
The Donna Hill short story makes this one worth picking up, especially if you love Hallmark Christmas movies!
Overall, despite all that I have since learned about Donna Hill, somehow, I’ve never read any of her books. This was the first, as far as can tell, but it won’t be my last!
4 stars for ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree
